A mock drill suggesting rescue of people marooned in flood was staged today by the district disaster management authority in collaboration with the hospital staff of the MMCH Daltonganj.
The nodal officer of the district disaster management authority Surjit Kumar who is additional collector Palamu said "A situation was imagined that 8 people have got marooned in flood. They are to be rescued."
Surjit Kumar said "Our team including members of the fire station presented a prototype of the rescue and medical relief."
On being reminded that 'one rescued is shown carried by four men with great difficulty' (photo below) to which Surjit Kumar said in an emergency situation the pressure is to save lives by all means and no logistics is awaited.
If four pulled him out then it's a saving for life asserted Surjit Kumar.
Sources said the 4 who carried the rescuee had never thought him to be so heavy weight as his carrying on by 4 looked torturous to the rescuers and the rescued one too.
The rescuee was just 10 inches above the ground and had any of the 4 rescuers of him loosened their hands, the poor rescuee would have cursed himself most for taking part in this mock drill.
Jairam Singh Yadav of the district disaster management authority said we had pressed in stretcher too.
The prominent sound was of the siren of the ambulance which gave this mock drill a kind of semblance of the real rescue of people in flood.
