A Naxalite was on Monday killed in a gun battle with security forces in the forests of Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district.
The skirmish took place around 9 am in the Bhatbeda forest area when a joint team of the District Reserve Guard and Bastar Fighters was on an anti-Naxalite operation, Narayanpur Additional Superintendent of Police Hemsagar Sidar said.
The operation was launched based on inputs about the presence of senior Naxalite leaders, including platoon no. 16 in-charge Mallesh, commander Vimla and those from the Indravati Area Committee of Maoists, the official said.
After the gunfight ended, the body of an unidentified Naxalite in battle fatigue was found, he said, adding that a .315 rifle and a 12.bore rifle were also recovered from the scene.
