Many cities of Madhya Pradesh are in the grip of severe cold. The mercury dropped to 7.8 degrees in Pachmarhi on Saturday night. This is the lowest this season.
In the morning dew drops were seen frozen on trees and plants. There has also been a decline in mercury in Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Ujjain.
The existing Western Disturbance has weakened, but another Western Disturbance is becoming active in North India from December 11.
Senior meteorologist said that its impact in the state is expected to be less. But, the effect of cold will increase at night. It will be sunny during the day. There will be intense cold winds coming from the north.
Sharp dip was witnessed in night temperature in Bhopal and other cities in the state on intervening night of Saturday-Sunday. Cold conditions has been intensified in the evening time. Day temperature did not record fluctuation and it was sunny weather.
High humidity was also witnessed in morning hours. Bhopal recorded 96 per cent humidity in morning while Raisen recorded 100 percent humidity.
Weak western disturbance is approaching due to which temperature will further dip. However, steep fall in temperatures is not expected.
Bhopal recorded drop of 2.2 degrees Celsius in night temperature and was recorded at 11.9 degrees Celsius while it recorded 24.6 degrees Celsius in the day. Indore recorded drop of 1.2 degrees Celsius in night temperature settled at 14.2 degrees Celsius while it recorded 25.8 degrees Celsius day temperature.
Night temperature in range of 10 degrees Celsius to 11 degrees Celsius was recorded at places like Chhindwara, Betul, and Rajgarh. However, day temperature did not see much fluctuation as weather was clear.
A feeble system in the form of a Western Disturbance is likely over the Western Himalayas. The system will reach the region around December 11. The spread and intensity will be mild and by December 13, the rains will start receding. The only impact it will have is a further fall in temperatures, which is single digit only at present.
Temperature will further reduce in next couple of days. However, temperature has reduced infusing chill in atmosphere. Feeble western disturbance is also approaching. However, steep drop is not expected.
