Close on the heels of Rae Bareli incident in which a doctor killed his wife and two children before committing suicide, in a similar incident reported from Ballia, a man allegedly committed suicide after killing his wife and two children by slitting their throats on Sunday night.

The horrific incident took place at Devdih gram sabha under Bansdih Kotwali police station of Ballia district.

A police official said that at around 11 pm on Sunday night, the bodies of four people of the same family were found in the garden. The throats of a woman and two children were slit with sharp weapons while the body of a man was found hanging from a tree there.

Police suspect that the deceased man, identified as Shravan Ram of Devdih, killed his wife Shashikala Devi (35 years) and two children, Surya and Mitthu, with a sharp weapon in the mango orchard near the house and threw the bodies there.

After killing the wife and children, Ram committed suicide, police said. He also left behind a suicide note.

Police suspect that there was a dispute between the husband and wife on Sunday night and in a fit of rage, the man killed his wife and children and later committed suicide.

Meanwhile, a 55-year-old man was hacked to death by some unidentified men in Munshiganj area of Amethi, police said on Monday.

The incident happened in Ramdepur village on Sunday night.

Ram Sajivan (55) and his sister-in-law Dhanraji (58) were attacked by some persons when they were sleeping outside Sajivan’s house, Superintendent of Police Ilamaran said.

Both were rushed to hospital where Sajivan died while Dhanraji was referred to Lucknow for better treatment.

Police are probing the case and trying to ascertain the motive behind the killing.
