Madhya Pradesh in grip of extreme cold conditions, Bhopal records 12.8 degree

State is firmly under the grip of extreme cold conditions and severe cold conditions have been witnessed in the state capital Bhopal, due to cold chilled winds cold conditions have increased during the day.

Expert told that there will be a severe cold in the coming days. Therefore, curtains have been installed in the house built in the animal enclosure in Van Vihar National Park.

Deputy Director SK Sinha said that curtains have been installed on the gates and windows of the animal houses in 15 enclosures. Heaters and cots will also be installed. So that the health of the animals does not deteriorate.

Van Vihar is the first national park in the heart of any capital. Here tourists get to see 27 types of enclosures including lion, tiger, bear, deer, hyena, leopard, crocodile, chital, sambhar, peacock, wild boar, langur and a total of 1510 animals roaming in the open. Of these, there are a total of 121 animals in the enclosure. Now Van Vihar management has started an exercise to save them from the cold.

The curtains have been installed first. Heaters will be installed for warmth and thrones will also be provided for sitting. These arrangements will continue during the cold season.

In the last 10 days, the night temperature has been around 10-11 degrees. The coldest night of the season was 14-15 December. Then the mercury had reached 10.8 degrees. The mercury remained at or around 11 degrees in four out of 10 nights.

Due to Western Disturbance, it remained cloudy throughout the day on Saturday. However, the day temperature increased by 1.5 degrees. Due to this it was recorded at 27.9 degrees. At the same time, the temperature on Friday-Saturday night was 11.9 degrees. Meteorologists say that in the coming days, due to western disturbance, the mercury will drop during the day, while there will be a slight increase at night.

Cold winds in Madhya Pradesh have neutralized the brightness of the sun. There was mist and fog in Bhopal, Gwalior, Indore, Jabalpur, Ujjain on Sunday morning.

Saturday night was the coldest in Pachmarhi in the state. The mercury reached 7.2 degrees. The night temperature was recorded at 8.5 degrees in Naugaon (Chhatarpur), 8.6 degrees in Rewa and Umaria. It was 9 degrees in Datia and Gwalior, 9.2 degrees in Malajkhand (Balaghat). Ujjain recorded the highest night temperature of 15 degrees.

Meteorologist  said that a Western Disturbance has started activity in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. However, its impact will be less in the state because the clouds will remain high up. It may definitely be cloudy at some places. A system will be active again on 22 December. Due to its strength, there is a possibility of rain in the state on December 23 and 24.
