Leftist parties and various other organizations including the Progressive Writers Association, Tribal Organization, ST-SC Morcha, Journalist Association, All India Women’s Society, Labor Organization protested against President Draupadi Murmu not inaugurating the new Parliament House on Sunday. These organizations staged the protest march at Albert Ekka Chowk. The protesters opposed the inauguration of the new Parliament House by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The participants attending the protest march termed it as Black day by wearing black badges in protest and carrying placards.
In order to take constitutional action in honour of the President and protect the constitution, the leaders and workers of the left parties celebrated Black Day by wearing black badges and carrying placards in their hands.
During this, other organizations including CPIML, Massas, Progressive Writers Association, Tribal Association, ST SC Morcha, Journalist Association, All India Women’s Society, Labor Organization were present.
CPI State Secretary Mahendra Pathak said in his address that a new dark chapter has been added to the country. Because by not inviting President Draupadi Murmu to the inauguration program of the new Parliament House, the government has shown its dictatorship.
The Prime Minister has torn apart the Constitution. Constitutionally, the Parliament House opens with the permission of the President. The Parliament session begins with President’s address. With President’s permission, the tenure of the Parliament runs. Whatever bills are passed inside the Parliament, it also takes the form of law only with the signature of the President. He told that 19 political parties and 253 MPs of the country have boycotted the inauguration of the new parliament.
The Left parties on Sunday hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, comparing the inauguration of the new parliament building by him with the coronation of a monarch and relegating the people of the country to "subjects ('praja')".
Around 20 opposition parties decided to boycott the event over the prime minister and not the president inaugurating the building.
In a series of tweets, CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury alleged that the inauguration ceremony was held amid "loud propaganda" with the declaration of a "new India".
"This declaration of a 'New India' comes in the absence of the President of India, Vice President of India and opposition parties! India = Nation and Citizen; New India = Raja and Praja."
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new parliament building here on Sunday morning and installed the historic Sengol in the Lok Sabha chamber.
