A bite mark on the hand of a 20-year-old man led to the Delhi Police cracking a mysterious triple murder case, where a couple and their daughter were killed, in south Delhi's Neb Sarai area in only 10 hours on Wednesday.
The national Capital was left shocked, when on Wednesday morning 51-year-old Rajesh Kumar Tanwar, his 46-year-old wife, Komal and their 23-year-old daughter, Kavita were found dead in their home.
The accused, who was identified as Arjun Tanwar alias Bunty, carefully executed the plan to murder his family on his parent's 27th marriage anniversary even as he went for a jog to Sunder van park to establish his alibi.
However, the police found his body language and changing statements suspicious, which led to conduct sustained interrogation.
At first, the police analysed the CCTV footage around the house. However they did not find anyone going in or out of the house at the time of the incident.
"On sustained interrogation, his versions kept changing as he improvised his statements. We also inquired him about the bite mark on his finger but he could not give any satisfactory answers, which further made us more sure," a police source stated.
He added that after analysing the accused's route to the park, his jog seemed very short as if trying to establish an alibi to avoid suspicion.
Another one also said that he specifically chose this date, when his parent's anniversary falls, to gain sympathy. "Another clue was also that in the place of the incident, blood marks were very few, as if someone tried to clean it and there were no articles that were stolen indicating that someone known is involved," he said.
The murder took place between 5 am and 7 am in the morning, when everyone is usually sleeping.
"A PCR call was received around 6.53 am. The crime and forensics team were also called to the scene to collect evidence. Rajesh was found lying on the first floor, while the women were on the ground floor. The attacker used a sharp-edged weapon. Prima facie, there is no ransacking or stealing of articles from the house. Further, proceedings are in progress. A case of murder has been registered at the Neb Sarai Police Station," Ankit Singh, deputy commissioner of police (south) said.
According to the police, Arjun felt insulted by his family and was afraid that his parents will name his sister in their will. This according to the police was the intention behind the murders. “He was insulted in front of people on his elder sister’s birthday on December 1, which worked as the final nail in the coffin,” a police source added.
