Garhwa police arrested a JJMP Naxal, who is a native of Garhwa district following an encounter in Dhengura village on the night of December 17. The arrested person is Sheopujan Munda alias Sheopujan Bhuihar native of Homiya village under Ramkanda Police station.
At the behest of arrested Bhuihar, one AK 47 rifle, four magazines have been recovered, Inspector General of Police Rajkumar Lakra said at Garhwa police line on Tuesday.
The IG said that for the last two months, the squad of Tunesh Oraon of Naxalite organization of JJMP was active in Ramkanda, Ranka, Chiniya and Bhandaria police station areas and was terrorizing the contractors and the general public to collect levy for development works. The Naxalite squad had assaulted the security guard on the night of 15th December to collect levy for the water tank construction work site of L&T Company in Khuthwa more of Ranka police station area.
A case has been registered regarding this in Ranka police station. Whereas on December 17, the police had received information that Tunesh Oraon's squad was planning a destructive action to collect the levy in the Sumarrava forest of Dhengura. Ranka, Ramkanda and Chiniya police station started the raid operation. During this , there was an encounter between Tunesh Oraon's squad and the police near Suarmarwa forest.
Ranka police station in-charge has been injured in this encounter. After the encounter, the police conducted a search operation, in which Tunesh Oraon's squad member Shivpujan Bhuinhar was arrested with an AK 47 rifle, two magazines and 70 rounds of bullets. IG said that apart from this, one magazine of AK 47 rifle and one magazine of INSAS rifle, 13 bullets of INSAS 5.56 mm calibre, one handgun, four Android mobiles, two SIM cards, earphones, data cable, pocket diary, were recovered from the spot of encounter site. Many items including two bags, uniform, and tarpaulin have been recovered. He said that the mobile numbers of various associates of JJMP and many contractors are written in the pocket diary. Based on this, the police are carrying out research and search operations.
