It seems burglars are having a field day in the capital city. In the latest incident, miscreants decamped with gold ornaments worth Rs 20 lakh from a house at Chakeisihani under the Mancheswar police station.
The burglary was reported when the house owner Debadutta Samal and his family members were not present in the house. The family had gone on a vacation when the burglars committed the crime after breaking at least four locks.
Samal said he stays in Jaipur in Rajasthan and was on his way to Bhubaneswar. His family had gone on vacation and the keys were handed over to their tenants. As per a discussion, he was supposed to take the keys from the tenants and enter the house. However, he got a call from his wife that some miscreants had looted valuables from the house.
Samal further said it is tough to suspect anybody as they had handed over the keys to tenants.
He said he was staying in the area for the last 30 years and no such incident had occurred in the past.
