Financial irregularities in crops insurance for farmers under a particular cooperative society came to the fore during an audit here. After receiving the report, the Registrar cooperative society has asked the ARCS, Baleswar, to conduct a probe and submit a report.
Reports said during a financial audit of Anatra Cooperative Society of Simulia, it was learnt that about Rs 1.66 crore was sanctioned towards PM Crop Insurance for 366.55 acres of land of 565 registered farmers under the society for the fiscal year 2021-22. But subsequently, 72 more farmers were added illegally to the beneficiary list. And as the sanctioned amount remained unchanged nearly Rs 1.66 crore, it was distributed among 637 farmers. These irregularities came to light during the audit.
It was also that a 15-member group of farmers of Anatara, Barapur and Nachhipur villages while was supposed to receive over Rs 11 lakh yet they received nearly Rs 5 lakh only.
