Petroleum Minister Hardeep S Puri marked the launch of "Reference Gasoline and Diesel Fuels" produced by IndianOil's Paradip and Panipat refineries as a significant achievement, which contributes to the Make in India initiative and AtmaNirbhar Bharat vision.
This marks India's first venture into the production of reference gasoline and diesel fuels, aligning with international standards and reducing the country's import dependence, Puri said.
The Minister highlighted India's four-pronged energy security strategy, including diversification of energy supplies, expanding exploration and production, developing alternate energy sources, and transitioning to a gas-based economy, all aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of an energy-independent India by 2047.
Puri praised oil companies' efforts in fulfilling national commitments, including clean energy projects, BS-VI fuel transition, EV charging stations, CBG, sustainable aviation fuel, ethanol blending, and hydrogen fuels. He also commended IndianOil's Research and Development Centre for its pioneering work and the production of reference fuels.
The Minister emphasized India's commitment to reducing emissions and eco-friendly alternatives and highlighted the nation's status as the 5th largest economy, emphasizing the potential India holds as a global energy market player.
Puri celebrated the innovation in the gas and energy sector, recognizing oil companies' ongoing efforts to enhance product offerings for customers.
