Rallies and Satyagrahas were held in Bhubaneswar on Friday as part of the countrywide protests against the expulsion of 146 Opposition MPs from the Parliament.
Many leaders of the INDIA Group, Odisha were arrested while protesting against the “autocratic rule” of the Narendra Modi Government. The leaders said the Parliament is the highest democratic institution. The opposition parties’ leaders have democratic and Constitutional rights to protest. The Modi Government has used the Rajya Sabha Chairman and the Lok Sabha Speaker to expel 146 Opposition MPs.
The Modi Government has to pay a heavy price for its autocratic attitude and intolerance. The expulsion of the 146 MPs should be immediately withdrawn, the opposition leaders demanded.
The Indian National Congress, CPI and CPI(M), All India Forward Block, Aam Aadmi Party, Samajwadi Party, NCP, RJD, Samruddha Odisha and JMM took part in the protest.
Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Sarat Pattanayak and former PCC president Prasad Harichandan, Ramkrushan Panda, Ali Kishore Patnaik (CPI-M) and many other leaders were among others present.
