‘OBSCENE DANCE’ AT JATRA IN BALESWAR SPARKS ROW (Pix)
Baleswar: Tension ran high during a Jatra show at Kurunthia village under the Kamarda police limits in Baleswar district over an alleged obscene dance performance by a woman dancer on the stage. Some viewers of the show stood up and objected to the dance while the performance was underway. They asked the show management to stop the dance programme. Amid protest from the audience, the dancer eventually left the stage. A video of the incident has surfaced on various social media platforms. The dancer was making objectionable gestures at the audience besides performing ‘vulgar’ dance, one of the viewers said.

Rourkela: A Junior Engineer (JE) of the TPWODL in Sundargarh district was arrested by the Vigilance police on Thursday for demanding and accepting a bribe Rs 30,000 from an Electrical Helper for giving him permanent placement. The accused Ranjan Kumar Das, works as JE in Bargaon Electrical Section.

BANDH IN KUCHINDA OVER DISTRICT STATUS DEMAND
Sambalpur: The Zilla Kriyanusthan Committee on Thursday observed a 12-hour bandh in Kuchinda in Samnbalpur demanding district status for this sub-division. Shops and other business establishments, educational institutions, banks and offices remained closed. However, emergency services were excluded from the ambit of the bandh. Vehicular movement was severely affected in the area as members of the committee staged road blockade at various places. Some political and social organisations extended support to the bandh call.
