HOME GUARD FOUND DEAD NEAR RAYAGADA RLY STATION

Rayagada: A Home Guard was found dead near the Rayagada railway station on Monday. The deceased was identified as B Harishankar Rao. He was engaged in cooking activity at the residence of the Rayagada SP.

Though the reason behind the death was yet to be ascertained, it was suspected that he died by suicide after jumping from a moving train.

Police recovered the body for postmortem and stated an investigation into the incident.

 

YOUTH FOUND DEAD ON RLY TRACK IN BALANGIR

Balangir: A youth was found dead with a severed head on railway track near the Saintala railway station in Balangir district on Monday. Till last reports came in, the identity of the deceased was yet to be established. Though the reason behind the death was yet to be ascertained, it was suspected that he might have been hit by a moving train leading to his death. Police recovered the body and initiated an investigation into the incident.

 

ODISHA YOUTH FOUND HANGING AT EDEN GARDENS IN KOLKATA

Bhubaneswar: A body of a son of a Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) employee was found hanging in the gallery of Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Monday. The deceased was identified as Dhananjay Barik (21). Both he and his father as wells as his uncle had been engaged as grounds men at the Eden Gardens.

 

MAN HELD FOR LOOT FROM SARALA TEMPLE; RS 1.85L RECOVERED

Jagatsinghpur: Police have arrested a man for allegedly looting money from the donation box at the Maa Sarala Temple in Jagatsinghpur district. The accused was identified as Rishi Mohanty of Keri village under the Keonjhar Sadar police limits. He was apprehended from a hotel in Karanjia on the basis of mobile phone tracking by cops, said Jagatsinghpur Additional SP Jayant Mohapatra. Police recovered Rs 1.85 lakh and two mobile phones from his possession. The accused had on December 11 visited the temple for planning the loot and allegedly committed the robbery on December 14 night by breaking the donation box.

 

MISCREANTS LOOT VALUABLES FROM 2 TEMPLES IN BHADRAK

Bhadrak: Miscreants looted valuables and donation boxes from two temples at Santhia under the Bhadrak Town police limits late on Sunday night. The looters entered Madanmohan Temple and Govindajew Temple by breaking the locks. They then decamped with the donation boxes and other valuables used for puja of the deities. Police reached the spot on Monday morning and started a probe. Preliminary investigation revealed that drug peddlers might have been involved in the loot.

 

CAMP ON UTILISATION OF COCONUT SHELLS 

Balanga: The Socio Cultural Development Centre (SCDC) organised a training and demonstration camp on utilisation of waste coconut shells and preparation bio coal on Sunday. Over 75 persons of 22 SHGs of nine gram panchayats under Nimapara block participated in the camp. Renewable energy expert professor Monoj Kumar Gosal joined as resource person and demonstrated preparation of bio coal from coconut shells. Balanga College Education Head Dr Pradosh Kumar Pati attended as guest of honour and emphasised all-round development of rural women. SSDC chairman Banamali Sahoo and coordinator Lalatnedu Mohapatra, SHGs leader Gouripriya Mohapatra, secretary Nirupama Pradhan coordinated the camp.
