SKCG COLLEGE FOUNDATION DAY CELEBRATIONS BEGIN

Paralakhemundi: Various programmes have been planned to celebrate the 125th foundation day of the Sri Krushna Chandra Gajapati (SKCG) Autonomous College here. The celebrations were kicked off by initiating a blood donation camp on Sunday. Principal Ajay Kumar Tripathy inaugurated the camp and said it has been aimed to collect 125 units of blood. Tripathy said the college has earned glory by producing many educationists, doctors, scientists and bureaucrats. To celebrate the 125th foundation day, 125 programmes have been planned. Youth Red Cross Coordinator Sukanta Kumar Behera, Dr N Rabi Babu, District Blood Bank’s Khageswar and his team conducted the camp.

 

GOPABANDHU JAYANTI HELD BHUBANESWAR

Bhubaneswar: Floral tributes were paid to the statue of  former Utkal Sammilani president Utkalmani Gopabandhu Das on his  anniversary here on  Monday. At a function presided over by Utkal Sammilani Mancheswar branch president Dillip Dashsharma, Sammilani president Anant Prasad Jena and vice president Surendra Mishra paid glowing tributes to Gopbandhu Das. Among others, Soudamini Samantray.  Nimai Das, Subrat Mahapatra, Sidhatath Shankar Gadanayak, Basanti Tripathy, Maheshwar Biswal and Akshay Kumar Jethi were present.

 

UTKALMANI JAYANTI AT DAV CHANDRASEKHARPUR 

Bhubaneswar: The 146th birth anniversary of Utkalmani Pandit Gopabandhu Das was observed at both the campuses of DAV Public School, Chandrasekharpur, Bhubaneswar on Monday. Principal Dr Sujata Sahu, Coordinator Indira Bhattacharya, Academic Supervisors, teachers and students offered floral tributes to Utkalmani. The Principal urged students to follow the ideals of Utkalmani in serving countrymen, especially the downtrodden selflessly. Students participated in various events. Meritorious students were honoured.

 

EMINENT ACADEMICIAN PASSES AWAY 

Bhubaneswar: Eminent academician Prof Pramod Chandra Pattanayak, who served the Institute of Technical Education and Research (ITER) as Professor and Advisor in the Department of Electrical Engineering for eight years, passed away here on Monday following a brief illness.

 

1ST ALL ODISHA INTER CLUB ROLLER SKATING AT IIT BBS

Bhubaneswar: The 1st All Odisha Inter Club Roller Skating Championship was held at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar on Sunday. Over 200 skaters from different clubs of the State participated in four categories, viz., Beginner, Fancy Inline, Professional Quad, Professional Inline, in the age groups ranging from under 6 to under 19. The winners of various categories were awarded. Registrar Bamadev Acharya encouraged the skaters.

 

CISF KRTC OBSERVES 45TH PASSING-OUT PARADE 

Athagarh: The CISF's Kharavela Regional Training Centre (KRTC) at Mundali observed its 45th passing-out parade on Monday. The centre imparts training to the new recruits of CISF, in-service personnel and at times recruits of Odisha Police, UP Police and police personnel of other States. The training of 921 Constables/ GD basic trainees of CISF was running for the past 43 weeks at the centre. Chief guest IG CISF North Eastern States-II Headquarters Kolkata Sudhir Kumar complimented the trainees for their excellent parade. He presented trophies and certificates of merit to the best trainees. Principal of the centre DIG Mamun-Ur Rashid and Vice-Principal Commandant Sankararao Byreddi were present.

 

STUDENT GOES MISSING IN K’MAL WATERFALL

Phulbani : A minor boy went missing on Sunday afternoon while taking a bath in Urmagarh waterfall of Kandhamal district. He was a student of Class-X in a school at Nakadisaru village. The minor had gone to the waterfall along with some of his friends. The incident occurred when they were taking a bath. Unfortunately, the boy slipped deep into the water and went missing and has not yet been traced. A team of local Fire Services personnel launched a fr search operation, which was underway, police said.

 

MEGA HEALTH CAMP HELD AT PHULBANI

Phulbani:  A mega heath camp was inaugurated by local MP Dr Achyuta Samanta at Sartaguda here. A total of sixty doctors from KIIMS (Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology and Management Science) provided care to patients and offered health guidance. Individuals underwent various tests without any fees. Complimentary medicines were dispensed. Medical professionals attended to senior citizens. Special bus service was provided for the disabled persons. District Collector Asis Iswar Patil, SP Suvendu Patra, Phulbani MLA Angad Kanhar were present. A total number of 3,050 patients were provided with medical care.

 

CYBER SAFETY AWARENESS AT BALANGA COLLEGE

Balanga: Regarding cyber safety, the Puri district police administration organised an awareness programme at the Balanga College on Monday. College Vice-Principal Harmohan Mohanty presided over the event and shared some cybercrime examples. Students were welcome to the district cyber safety Rath. District headquarters Constable Aditya Kumar Dash, Raja Panda, Balanga College Education department Head Dr Prados Kumar Pati, Balabhadra Rath, Brajabandhu Pradhan joined as guests. Roadside drama and awareness song were performed on the safety Rath.

 

JSP FOUNDATION TO EXPAND MISSION ZERO HUNGER PROG 

Bhubaneswar: The JSP Foundation, inspired by a hunger-free India vision of chairman of Jindal Steel & Power (JSP) Naveen Jindal, who had introduced a private Bill in the Lok Sabha to end hunger in the country, is set to expand the operational scope of its Mission Zero Hunger programme. Under the leadership of Shallu Jindal, chairperson of JSP Foundation, over 50 lakh meals are being  distributed every year across India with a bold target of reaching 1 crore meals every year. The mission focuses on ensuring food security and basic nutrition for underprivileged and socially vulnerable communities, undernourished children, pregnant and anaemic women, migrant laborers and other marginalised groups.
