Purohit inaugurates Cricket Nationals for the blind Group D

Chandigarh: Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Banwarilal Purohit on Monday inaugurated the Cricket Nationals for the blind Group D at the Cricket Stadium, Sector 16. Purohit commended the spirit and passion of blind cricketers. Organized by the National Association for the Blind (NAB), Chandigarh in collaboration with the Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI), the sixth edition of the Nagesh Trophy Nationals for the Blind is set to showcase talent, determination, and sportsmanship among individuals with visual disabilities. The tournament spans from December 18 to 22.

 

Yuva Sangam held at Punjab Raj Bhawan

Chandigarh: A dynamic delegation comprising passionate young minds from IIT Ropar and IIT Karnataka converged at Punjab Raj Bhawan in the Yuva Sangam under the 'Ek Bharat Shreshta Bharat' scheme, on Monday. Igniting fervor for proactive engagement and positive change, Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit passionately motivated the assembled youth. Encouraging them to embrace diligence, integrity, and dedication as guiding principles in their pursuits, the Governor emphasized the pivotal role of truthfulness and national interest in shaping a brighter future for the country.

Five-day training prog on Ayush Health and Wellness Centres

Chandigarh: Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Balbir Singh, accompanied by Punjab Ayurveda director Dr Ravi Doomra, inaugurated the five-day long training programme on Ayush Health and Wellness Centres organized at Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration (MGSIPA) on Monday. Calling upon all the participants to become role models and help the state in reviving the good old ancient Indian medical system ‘Ayurveda’, Dr Balbir asked them to voluntarily hold yoga sessions near their homes and sensitize the people about ayurveda. He informed that Punjab Government has upgraded 158 AHWCs, and herbal gardens are being established at all these centres so that people can opt for natural medicines like herbs to cure themselves from mild diseases, instead of relying on allopathy medicines.

Punjab traders’ panel met various trade associations

Chandigarh: Punjab State Traders’ Commission on Monday held a meeting with the representatives from various business sectors, and listened to their demands. Commission member Vineet Verma assured a prompt fulfillment of their legitimate demands, while assuring that their demands would be forwarded to the concerned department for resolution. Verma said that the Government is committed to resolving the problems faced by the state's traders and is making sincere efforts for the development of industries.

 Workshop organized related to elimination of malnutrition, anemia

Chandigarh: Punjab Social Security, Women and Child Development Department on Monday organized a workshop regarding the elimination of malnutrition and anemia. Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr Baljit Kaur said that the Punjab Government is sincerely working to eradicate malnutrition and anemia in the state. She highlighted that malnutrition affects people of all ages and efforts are being made to eliminate it. “People are being educated about promoting the consumption of nutritious food, reducing malnutrition among women and children, breastfeeding and providing nutritional services and supplements,” said the Minister, urging the NGOs, the Health Department, and the public to collaborate in eradicating malnutrition for a healthy future for the upcoming generations.
