UT Administrator takes stock of progress in legacy waste biomining at dumping ground

Chandigarh: Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Banwarilal Purohit on Monday directed the Chandigarh Smart City Limited and Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh, (MCC) to speed up the work of clearing the legacy waste from Dadu Majra dumping ground. Purohit, who visited the dumping ground and legacy mining site along with his Advisor Dharam Pal, Mayor Anup Gupta, MCC Commissioner Anindita Mitra, among others, expressed concern about the health and hygiene of residents. He directed the officers concerned to clear the backlog of RDF lying inside the boundary wall at the earliest, besides speeding up the process to clear rest of the legacy waste from the mining site with additional processing by putting in more manpower and machinery if required.

 

Online portal launched to facilitate Punjabi NRIs

Chandigarh: In a major relief to the NRI brethren, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday launched an online portal — eservices.punjab.gov.in — of the Revenue Department to apply for the embossing of documents on a single click of a mouse. Describing it as a revolutionary step towards e-governance, the Chief Minister said that sometimes, a person residing outside India (an NRI or an OCI) needs to sell, buy, rent out or take possession of a property located in the state. However, the concerned person is not able to visit India and attend the sub-registrar office in person to get the documents registered, said Mann, adding that thus, to facilitate such NRIs, the entire process has been now digitized, allowing applicants to apply for the embossing of documents.

 

HP Governor reviews progress of central schemes in Chamba district

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Monday reviewed various central sponsored schemes being implemented in Chamba district and took stock of the relief work being carried out after the damages caused due to heavy rains. He also reviewed the activities of Red Cross and Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. “Despite being a district of historical importance, NITI Aayog has included it in the category of ‘Aspirational District’, which was a matter of concern,” said the Governor asking the officers and employees to act responsibly and discharge their duties with total dedication, in order to come out of this tag.

 

3 Deputy Directors of Haryana IPR promoted to post of JDs

Chandigarh: Haryana Government on Monday promoted Deputy Directors — Raj Singh, Urvashi Rangara, and Neeraj Kumar — serving in the Information, Public Relations, Language and Culture Department, to the post of Joint Directors. Besides, six other officials have also been promoted. Among them, Assistant Information and Public Relations Officer Atma Ram, Sanjay Kumar, Krishan Kumar have been promoted as District Information and Public Relations Officer, Assistant Photo and Cinema Officer Gopal Singh as Photo and Cinema Officer, Senior Evaluator, Satender Bangar as Project Officer and PA, Baljinder Kaur has been promoted to the post of Private Secretary.

 

Jauramajra condoles sad demise of senior reporter Sethi’s father

Chandigarh: Punjab Information and Public Relations Minister Chetan Singh Jauramajra on Monday expressed deep grief over the demise of Manjit Kumar Sethi (66), father of senior journalist Naveen Sethi. Jauramajra prayed to the Almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed soul and give strength to the family to bear this irreparable loss in this hour of grief. Manjit Kumar Sethi took his last breath this morning at PGI, Chandigarh after prolonged illness.

 

Punjab’s museums to remain close for visitors till July 31

Chandigarh: The museums — Virasat-e-Khalsa at Sri Anandpur Sahib, Dastan-e-Shahadat at Sri Chamkaur Sahib, and the Golden Temple Plaza at Amritsar, under Punjab’s Tourism and Cultural Affairs Department, will remain closed for visitors till July 31 for half-yearly maintenance. Spokesperson said that these museums are kept closed for visitors every year during the last week of January and July. This closure allows necessary repair and maintenance work to be conducted, which cannot be carried out during the continuous movement of tourists in the galleries of the museums.

 

Diploma Engineers Ass. contributes one-day salary to CM relief fund

Chandigarh: The members of Diploma Engineers’ Association of Punjab Water Supply and Sanitation Department have contributed their one day salary to the ‘Chief Minister Relief Fund’. The association has 600 members and their one day salary of around Rs 15 lakh would be used towards the flood relief efforts. The Association’s representatives on Monday called on Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann with Water Supply and Sanitation Minister Bram Shanker Jimpa and handed over the letter to him regarding deduction of one day's salary of July month. The association consists of Junior Engineers, Assistant Engineers and Promoted Sub-Divisional Engineers.

 

Punjab VB nabs patwari for taking Rs 1500 for map against actual fee of Rs 80

Chandigarh: Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) on Monday nabbed a patwari Harbans Lal posted at Revenue Halqa Nurmahal in Jalandhar district for taking Rs 1500 for the village map, of which actual government fee is Rs 80 only. Spokesperson said that Narinder Singh of Ramewal village had filed a complaint on Anti-Corruption Action Line on June 30, 2023, that his maternal uncle needed a village map so he along with his maternal uncle approached the Patwari on June 23but he asked them to come on June 26. When they went to Patwari’s office on June 26, he took Rs 1500 for the village map, while, the government fee to avail the map is Rs 80 only.

 

Online Registration campaign for recruitment of AgniVeerVayu from July 27

Chandigarh: Army Service Corp, Ambala, will start AgniVeerVayu recruitment registration drive for eligible youth from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh (UT), Jammu and Kashmir (UT) and Ladakh (UT) from July 27, 2023. This registration will continue till August 17, 2023, and the online exam will be held on October 13, 2023. Spokesperson said that children born between June 27, 2003, and December 27, 2006, (both dates inclusive) are eligible for this registration campaign. More information about this recruitment drive can be obtained from agnipathvayu.cdac.in.

 

Three IAS officers deputed as in-charges of districts in Hry

Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal on Monday ordered to depute three IAS officers as in-charges of the districts in addition to their present duties. These officers will review various development projects and works of their allocated districts and send quarterly feedback about the same. Urban Local Bodies Department secretary Vikas Gupta has been allotted Kaithal district, whereas Haryana Shaheri Vikas Pradhikaran Chief Administrator Ajit Balaji Joshi has been allotted Jind district, while Finance secretary Sanjay Joon has been allotted Rohtak district.

 

Chd Mayor flags off new system for garbage collection in parks, green belts

Chandigarh: Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh, (MCC) has taken a significant step towards preserving cleanliness in its parks and green belts. Mayor Anup Gupta, MCC Commissioner Anindita Mitra, and other officers flagged off the new system for garbage collection. Emphasizing the significance of this initiative, Mitra said that the new system for garbage collection in parks is a crucial step towards enhancing the beauty and cleanliness of the city's green spaces. She urged citizens to use litter bins and dispose of waste responsibly for the betterment of environment.

 

Agri Minister invites Japanese investors to Haryana

Chandigarh: Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Minister JP Dalal on Monday held a meeting with Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Tsunoda Hideo during his visit to Japan. In the meeting, extensive discussions were held regarding projects of supply chain in the horticulture sector, skill training, fisheries, agreements with the University of Agriculture and Horticulture. The Japanese Minister assured all support and cooperation from the Japanese government. Dalal invited the investors to visit Haryana and also discussed in detail the modalities of future cooperation for the success of IIHM, Ganaur.

 

Hry Govt directs HoDs against transferring officials deployed to conduct Panchayat polls

Chandigarh: Haryana Government on Monday directed heads of all Departments not to transfer election officials who have been deployed to conduct the upcoming general elections of six gram panchayats — Ajampur, Block Naraingarh District Ambala, Chabri, Block Jind, Bhartana. Block Pillukhera, Rojkhera. Block Uchana, District Jind and Juan-l Block Sonipat in the state. The elections will be held on August 13, 2023. The order, issued by the Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal, said that officers and officials deployed to conduct the elections should not be transferred till the declaration of election results.

 

Preparatory work commences on Metro Extension from Ballabhgarh to Palwal

Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Secretary and HMRTC chairman Sanjeev Kaushal on Monday disclosed that the preparatory work for the proposed metro extension from Ballabhgarh to Palwal, covering a distance of approximately 25 kilometers, has been commenced and the contract for the Techno Feasibility Study has been awarded to M/S RITES. After presiding over the 53rd meeting of the Board of Director Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC), he said that in a major leap towards enhancing public transportation infrastructure, the Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has announced the extension of the metro network from Ballabhgarh to Palwal, on June 25, 2023.

 

 

SAD demands action against Pungrain chairman for sheltering his “drug trafficker” OSD

Chandigarh: SAD legal wing president Arshdeep Singh Kler on Monday demanded action against AAP’s Raja Sansi MLA and Pungrain chairman Baldev Singh Miandian for “patronizing and sheltering” his OSD and “drug trafficker” Tejbir Singh Gill who he said was an active AAP worker and not a SOI member as was being touted by AAP. Kler condemned AAP and its spokesman Malvinder Kang for mouthing lies by claiming that Tejbir Gill was a SOI worker when the truth was that Tejbir had worked in SOI for few weeks before being removed from his post even as he had been working actively for AAP and was even OSD of the Pungrain chairman. “Kang should apologize immediately for speaking brazen lies and also tell what action is being initiated against the Punjgrain chairman who had been patronizing the drug trafficker since the last one and a half years,” he said.

 

Punjab Govt making constant efforts to rehabilitate children in observation homes

Chandigarh: Under the Juvenile Justice Act-2015, the Punjab Government is continuously striving to protect children involved in legal disputes, ensuring their overall development, and promoting positive behavior, said the state Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr Baljit Kaur on Monday. She said that the state runs four Observation Homes at Hoshiarpur, Ludhiana, and Faridkot for boys, and at Jalandhar for girls; and two special homes at Hoshiarpur for boys and at Amritsar for girls under the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015. Various initiatives are being taken for all-round development and positive behaviour of these children, she added.

 

Harsimrat requests Health Minister to resolve pending issues at AIIMS-Bathinda

Bathinda: Former Union Minister and Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal on Monday requested the Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya to urgently resolve the problems being faced by the people assessing the AIIMS, including upgrading the 28-bedded trauma and emergency centre as well as ensuring availability of all required medicines at the AMRIT pharmacy in the Institute. Harsimrat said that it was unfortunate that even though she had raised the issue of upgrading the current 28-bedded trauma center to a 300-bed facility as well as other issues including construction accommodation for medical staff with the health minister last year, they were still pending.
