The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ranchi proudly celebrated the launch of the print edition of IIM Ranchi Journal of Management Studies (IRJMS) and the closing ceremony of IPM Induction 2023. Shri Suresh Prabhu, Former Union Minister, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
IIM Ranchi Journal of Management Studies (IRJMS) is an open-access journal of international scope. IRJMS is published by Emerald Publishing Group and is owned by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ranchi, a premier public business school in India. IRJMS is supported by an exceptional editorial review board and an eclectic advisory board, including outstanding academicians from top-notch universities across the world. IRJMS is a bi-annual international journal that is publishing the finest double-blind, peer-reviewed, original research (both empirical and conceptual) in all fields of management and related disciplines like economics and psychology.
The event began with the lighting of lamps by the dignitaries - Prof. Deepak Kumar Srivastava, Director, IIM Ranchi, Prof. Pradip Kumar Bala, Dean, Academic Affairs and Development, Prof. Deepak Kumar, Chairperson, IPM, Prof. Aditya Shankar Mishra, Editor, IIM Ranchi Journal of Management Studies and the Chief Guest, Shri Suresh Prabhu, Indian Emissary to G20 and G7; followed by a rendition of Saraswati Vandana and the National Song.
Prof. Aditya Shankar Mishra began the event by introducing the IRJMS as a journal that aligns with the institute’s mission. He spoke of IRJMS's success in its first 1.5 years of existence, with 22 papers published, 50 thousand article downloads and 100 citations. Prof. Pradip Kumar Bala continued by inspiring the students to follow their passions and compete with themselves and not others.
Prof. Deepak Kumar Srivastava, Director, IIM Ranchi, welcomed the IPM inductees of the batch of 2023-28 and highlighted the 3 opportunities they would receive during their programme – social sensitivity, focus on life skills and holistic development.
He further stated that IRJMS reflects the research ecosystem that is being fostered at IIM Ranchi, which stands amongst the best research institutes in the country and counts impactful research as a strategic priority.
The dignitaries then formally inaugurated the print version of the IIM Ranchi Journal of Management Studies. Padma Bhushan Dr. (Prof.) Jagdish Sheth, Guest of Honour, sent his best wishes to the institute via a video message, commending its work and long-term commitment towards research endeavours and further suggesting ways to enhance the journal’s visibility.
The Chief Guest for the event, Shri Suresh Prabhu, spoke about the importance of shaping the future by taking the right decisions today, dealing with uncertainty and turbulence, and how young leaders can be prepared to face these challenges. He further spoke about the scope of modern research on topics such as conflict resolution, job creation, asset valuation, and entrepreneurship, amongst others.
The IPM batch of 22-27 welcomed the inductees via a video presentation showcasing a glimpse of everything they would experience over the next 5 years. The Runners-up and Winners of two days of the Management Marathon event conducted during IPM induction were awarded prizes by the Chief Guest.
Prof. Deepak Kumar Srivastava felicitated Shri Suresh Prabhu, followed by a vote of thanks from Prof. Deepak Kumar, Chairperson IPM. The event concluded with a rendition of the national anthem.
