Indo American Chamber of Commerce Jamshedpur Chapter and Indian Institute of Materials Management Jamshedpur branch successfully organized its flagship Environmental, Social, and Stewardship (ESG) Seminar on Saturday. This seminar was organizlsed with the main objectives to discuss the areas of social, environmental, and governance management.
The seminar started with the traditional lighting of lamps. Siddharth Dash Chairman IIMM, delivered the welcome address. Rana Das, VP East, IIMM talked about the role of IIMM and highlighted the achievements of IIMM.
In the technical session, Sudipta Das, Former Regional President of IACC, explained the need the ESG in today’s society. Suyash Saraogi, President Strategy and Projects, APAR Industries and SG Khune, Sr VP Graphite India highlighted the areas how their companies are working in achieving the ESG goals and how these implementations have economically benefitted the company in terms of profitability. ESG is not about CSR but it is reducing the risk exposure of the company and increasing profitability.
Cdr Sanjeev Raman, Chairman IACC stressed that the concept of giving back to society and taking care of nature is embedded in the Indian philosophy for thousand of years. The prosperity of Indian merchant and traders in ancient India was due to the ethical behaviour and concern for nature which won them trust of every section of the society. The Indian philosophy is now being imbibed by the modern world is a good sign for India.
