Drivers of buses, trucks and other heavy vehicles would get tea free of cost on the National Highways (NHs) in Odisha, said State Transport Minister Tukuni Sahu on Thursday.
The State Government would make arrangements in this regard in order to keep the drivers fresh with an aim of reducing road mishaps on NHs, the Minister said.
“The drivers can avail tea free of cost from roadside hotels and dhabas on NHs. Besides, they can also have rest there. District Collectors will identify the hotels and dhabas for this facility,” she said.
“Most of the accidents take place on NHs in the wee hours as the drivers fall asleep. The State Government has decided to avoid such situations by providing them refreshment in the form of tea,” Sahu added.
