Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Thursday visited several areas of Gurugram city, conducting a surprise inspection of cleanliness and assessing the amenities available to the citizens. He also inspected various locations, including Village Kanhai, Sirhaul turn on Old Delhi Road, Carterpuri Road, Rejangla Chowk, Sector 23, and the dumping point near Kamla Nehru Park in Sadar Bazaar.

While engaging with sanitation workers during the surprise inspection, the Chief Minister attentively addressed their concerns. In response to the sanitation workers' request for equipment, the Chief Minister announced the purchase of resources worth Rs 1 crore from the CSR fund specifically for Gurugram. This fund will be utilized to procure 200 hand rickshaws, 150 regular rickshaws, and 10 tippers, aiming to enhance cleanliness initiatives in Gurugram city. Along with this, he also instructed the Municipal Corporation Commissioner to provide bonus to the cleaning workers.

On November 30, the Chief Minister issued directives for the comprehensive cleaning of all urban areas in the state. As per these instructions, cleanliness initiatives were underway in 88 urban areas of the state until December 10. The Chief Minister personally reviewed this campaign twice via video conferencing and emphasized that he and his cabinet members would visit all locations to conduct surprise inspections. Continuing this initiative, the Chief Minister inspected Gurugram city on Thursday, expressing his commitment to conduct another surprise inspection in Gurugram after a month.

About a week ago, during a meeting with Deputy Commissioners, District Municipal Commissioners, Municipal Corporation Commissioners, and other senior officials, the Chief Minister issued directives to maintain cleanliness standards in the cities. Over this week, either he personally or designated teams would conduct surprise inspections of the cleanliness systems in various cities.

On Thursday, the Chief Minister personally conducted a surprise inspection of Gurugram city's cleanliness system. During the visit, he levied a fine of Rs 1 lakh on the agency responsible for maintaining cleanliness on Kanhai Road due to inadequate cleanliness standards. Furthermore, fines were imposed on everyone ranging from the Supervisor of sanitation workers to the Joint Commissioner. The Chief Minister said that the administration must uphold the cleanliness system, and any lapses will not be tolerated. Stressing the collective responsibility to provide a clean environment for citizens, he held senior officers accountable and decided to impose fines for negligence on their part.

Khattar issued directives to deduct 15 days' salary of the Municipal Corporation Commissioner and one month's salary from the Joint Commissioner. In addition, He also imposed a fine of Rs 10 on the supervisor of sanitation workers, Rs 1,000 on Field Officer Ajay Kumar, Rs 2,000 on the Additional Sanitary Inspector, Rs 3,000 on Senior Sanitary Inspector and Rs 5,000 on Joint Commissioner Sanjay Singla.
