In a bid to keep the State capital clean and green, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) took a tough stance on Monday and slapped a fine of Rs 50,000 (each) on three agencies for illegally putting up ‘To let’ handbills on public space in Nayapalli.
The BMC also lodged FIRs against the three agencies for affixing massive posters across the city walls, poles, etc.,” a senior BMC official said on Tuesday.
“Notices were pasted today on defunct vehicles and structures placed on the road. Action will be taken by the civic body if the owner does not take necessary steps for removal,” the official added.
In a similar vein, the BMC recently penalised the owners of several marriage mandaps, hotels and other business establishments for violating prescribed garbage disposal norms.
“The BMC is creating awareness among denizens to strictly follow the prescribed norms and keep the city clean. It has been collecting garbage right from the doorsteps. Despite so much of provisions, some people have been violating the guidelines,” the official said.
