Girls outperform boys in CGBSE exams

Girls outperformed boys once again in the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) and High School Certificate (HSC) board examinations conducted by the Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education (CGBSE).

School Education Minister Premsai Singh Tekam announced the results of Higher Secondary (12th) and High School (10th) board examinations on Wednesday. Around 7 lakh students appeared in the examinations.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel had congratulated the students and their families for excelling in the examinations and had announced for taking the toppers for helicopter ride.

Baghel also expressed happiness over the outstanding performance of students from Swami Atmanand Schools.

Stating that it is just a beginning, Baghel tweeted: “Satisfied to say that 10 out of 48 students in top 10 in Class X are from Swami Atmanand School, Rank 1 and Rank 2 students are also from Swami Atmanand School. Also, out of 30 students in the top 10 in class XII, 5 students are from Swami Atmanand School”.

Vidhi Bhosle of Pussore in Raigarh district topped the 12th board examination securing 98.20 percent marks followed by Vivek Agarwal of Sakti, who obtained 97.40 percent marks.

In the 10th board examination, Rahul Yadav of Swami Atmanand School in Jashpur was on the top spot with 98.83 percent marks followed by Sikandar Yadav of the same school with 98.67 percent marks.

According to board officials, 3,28,121 candidates had registered for the Higher Secondary School Certificate main examination this year. Of them, 3,23,625 candidates appeared in the examination. It included 1,43,919 boys and 1,79,706 girls. The officials said 2,58,500 candidates passed the examination, which is 79.96 per cent.

Of those who have cleared the examinations 83.64 per cent are girls and 75.36 boys. The number of candidates passed with first division is 87,140 (26.96 percent).

A total of 3,37,569 candidates were registered in the High School Certificate main examination this year while 3,30,681 candidates appeared in the examinations. It includes 1,52,891 boys and 1,77,790 girls.

The officials said 75.05 percent of candidates passed the exam to enter the higher secondary school. Of them, 79.16 per cent are girls and 70.26 per cent are boys.  The number of candidates passed in the first division is 1,09,903 (33.30 percent).
