Cyber crime police arrested fraudsters from Delhi who were cheating in the name of facilitating works in movies by posting videos of celebrities on social media, they used to extort money by luring them to do photoshoots with them, accused have duped victims to the tune of Rs 50 lakh.
The accused used to deposit money in installments in the name of registration. For two years, they were doing fraud by forming a fake company in Delhi. The team has found evidence of fraud of Rs 50 lakhs from them. The police are interrogating the accused in other cases as well.
On December 15, 2022, a model living in Bhopal got a call from Dream Makers Company based in Delhi. They said that you have been selected for the video dance suit of the company. For this Rs 15000 will have to be given online.
After this, on January 4, 2023, another person who introduced himself as the director of Dream Makers Company and said there is an offer for video shooting in Mumbai, the shoot will last for 10 days and Rs 17500 will be given daily.
For this artist card has to be made and would require Rs 53100 will have to be deposited in two parts for the card. The girl paid money in two installments. After a few days she received call and the accused informed that Rs 105000 have to be deposited, otherwise the money earlier deposited will not be returned.
After this, on May 5, the complainant lodged a complaint. The team started the search for the accused with the help of evidence and technical analysis given by the complainant. The location of the accused was found at Madhu Vihar, Delhi. From where the team arrested Waqar Alam and Alka Badonia.
