A 40-year-old man and his teenage daughter died after four members of his family allegedly consumed poison in Durg district of Chhattisgarh.
Hemlal Verma (40) and Priya (14) died on Monday night after their residence, Jamul SHO Yakum Memon said.
His wife Jhanavi (38) and Muskan (11) were also affected.
Upon learning about the incident, villagers rushed them to a hospital and alerted the police.
“Of the four, Verma and his daughter Priya died. Verma’s wife and daughter Muskan were admitted to a private hospital. We are investigating the reasons which led the family to take this extreme step,” the officer said.
