Double Engine Govt to restore glory of Indore: CM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave benefits to workers of Hukumchand Mill Indore while addressing virtually a programme ‘Mazdooron ka hit Mazdooron ko Samarpit’ organised to commemorate the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee observed as 'Good Governance Day'.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav greeted Prime Minister Modi and handed over the cheque of benefits to be distributed to the workers of Hukumchand Mill to the representatives of the labour union and the liquidator.

Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone of a 60 megawatt solar power plant project to be built using money received from green bonds. Chief Minister Yadav performed bhoomi pujan and dedicated to people, a host of welfare development works worth about Rs 429 crore and distributed retrofitted scooties to 175 differently able people.

Addressing the programme, Prime Minister Modi said that it is an outcome of years of patience and dreams and dedication of the workers. It is a matter of joy and happiness birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee is being observed today. The workers leading a life full of struggle and getting the opportunity to participate in such a programme is a matter of satisfaction. The new team of the double engine government will get full blessings of our worker' families.

Sheri Modi hoped that the new team of Madhya Pradesh will make more such achievements. He said that when the package was announced for the workers of Hukumchand Mill, an atmosphere of celebration prevailed in Indore. This decision has further augmented the joy of festivals among workers. Today's event bears significance as today is the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee and ‘Good Governance Day’.

Modi said that we are aware of Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee's connection with Madhya Pradesh. A cheque of Rs 224 crore has been handed over to my family today as a symbolic gesture. This will reach the workers, who have faced many challenges, but now a bright future lies ahead. The people of Indore will remember the date of 25th December as the day of justice. I appreciate your patience and respect hard work.

Prime Minister Modi said that there are four castes– the poor, the youth, the mothers and sisters and my farmer brothers and sisters. Madhya Pradesh Government has taken significant measures to change the lives of the poor. Service to the poor, respect to workers and honour to the deprived are the utmost priority. The worker should become empowered and contribute to building a prosperous India.

Prime Minister Modi said that Indore, famous for maintaining cleanliness and and nourising taste, has been a leader in many fields. The textile industry has played a pivotal role in development of Indore. Everyone is familiar with the historicity of the 100 year old Maharaja Tukojirao Cloth Market here. The city's first cotton mill was established by the Holkar royal family. Malwa's cotton went to Britain and many European countries, and cloth was made in the mills there. There was a time when Indore markets used to determine the prices of cotton. The clothes made in Indore were in demand in the country and abroad. Textile mills had become a major centre of employment here. Many workers employed in these mills came from other states and settled here, this was the period when Indore was compared to Manchester. But times changed and Indore also had to bear the brunt of the policies of the earlier governments.

Prime Minister Modi said that Jalud Solar Energy Plant is going to save electricity bills worth Rs 4 crore per month. Funds are being raised from people for this plant by issuing green bonds. This effort of Green Bond will become another medium to ensure participation of the citizens of the country in protecting the environment.
