In a surprising turn of events, the domestic help working at Kaushambi Superintendent of Police (SP) Brijesh Srivastava’s residence, made a volte-face on the allegations of molestation by him. She said that she fabricated the allegations to settle scores with the officer.
Soon after the video of the accusations on the SP went viral on Monday, a three-member committee was formed to conduct an inquiry.
Additional Director General of Police (Prayagraj Zone) Bhanu Bhaskar said the inquiry team would be led by Inspector General (Prayagraj Range) Chandra Prakash, and the other two members would be Superintendent of Police (Chitrakoot) Vrinda Shukla and Chief Development Officer (Pratapgarh) Isha Priya. The committee has to submit its report in three days.
The panel was formed following directions from Director General of Police (DGP) Vijay Kumar and Prayagraj Divisional Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant, Bhaskar added.
However, in a fresh video of the domestic help, which went viral on Tuesday morning, she claimed that she was annoyed after being kicked out by Brijesh’s wife as she (domestic help) broke some utensils. She claimed that to teach the SP’s family a lesson, she leveled fabricated charges of misbehaviour on him.
She said she had realised her mistake, so she again came up before the media to withdraw charges as they all were “fabricated”. She also said that she was neither influenced by anyone nor under pressure to change her statement.
Srivastava, a Rae Bareli native, was promoted as an IPS officer last year and posted as the Kaushambi SP in November.
In a purported video of the woman making the allegations earlier, she had said the SP misbehaved with her under the influence of alcohol.
The woman said she had been working at the SP’s house for the last two months as domestic help. She said the SP used to call her to his room for one reason or the other.
She had also alleged that once she had to apply oil to his waist and on another occasion, he sought permission from her to touch her. The woman, however, did not mention the dates.
