Secretary of the DLSA Palamu Arpit Srivastav distributed 75 blankets among the poor and destitutes in Daltonganj on Thursday night. The CWC too joined this blanket distribution.
JHALSA has directed the DLSA to coordinate with the district administration for blanket distribution.
Arpit Srivastav said he had to arrange blankets for distribution among the poor from the social welfare department.
Secretary DLSA said he inspected the Ashray Grih in Daltonganj and was disappointed to see many beds there with blankets without any sleeper there.
He said the destitutes, homeless vagabonds and roofless are suggested to spend their nights at Ashray Grih but in vain.
He said had they come here in this Ashray Grih they would see then how good and warm this Ashray Grih is for them in the winter nights.
Medininagar municipal corporation city commissioner Md Jawed Hussain said "Our team goes out every night to identify sleepers in the open to come over to this Ashray Grih but many just don't budge an inch. They are ready to face the cruelties of winter but refuse to have warm winter night sleep."
Hussain said it's their mind set to be there where they are. Their behavioural attitude to their own comfort or pain is decided by them.
