Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was accorded a rousing reception by the natives of Uttarakhand on his arrival in London on Monday. A cultural programme was organised to welcome him in which presentations were given on Garhwali, Kumaoni and Jaunsari folk songs. The Uttarakhand diaspora was present wearing traditional clothes on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Dhami expressed gratitude to the natives of Uttarakhand residing in London for the welcome given to him and said that it is his honour to come to London to attend a meetings related to investors summit to be held in Dehradun. Visibly moved by the presence of a large number of people in the programme he said that it appears a small UK (Uttarakhand) resides in the United Kingdom (UK).
He said that apart from being devbhommi, Uttarakhand is the land of Yoga and spirituality. Dhami said that we should feel proud for having roots in Uttarakhand. The CM appealed the non resident Uttarakhandis to visit their native place at least once in a year.
Dhami said that the prestige and honour of India has increased under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the idea of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ is taking shape in the foreign destinations as well. He said that today India is surging ahead in the direction of becoming a Vishwa Guru (world leader) and the recent success of Chandrayaan III and safe landing on moon are its examples.
Dhami is on a five-day official visit to Britain to interact with the business fraternity there for the global investors’ summit to be held in Dehradun in December this year. The CM is leading a delegation which will meet the representatives of top industrial houses of the world and extend them an invitation to attend the investors’ summit. Apart from London the delegation will also visit Birmingham. It will hold meetings with the representatives of different industrial houses and will hold road shows in Britain.
The secretary to CM, R Meenakshi Sundaram, secretary Vinay Shankar Pandey, director general of industry Rohit Meena, resident commissioner Ajay Mishra and others were present on the occasion.
