A large numbers of people from tribe community gathered in the State Capital to participate in the Sarna Dharma Code Maharally  organized by Adivasi Samaj Sarna Dharma Raksha Abhiyan. The tribal organizations were demanding Sarna Dharma Code from the Central Government through the rally.

People from tribe communities from Jharkhand, Nepal, Bhutan, Odisha, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh and Bihar have participated in the rally. The rally was addressed by Sarna Dharma Guru, Bandhan Tigga, Dr Karma Oraon, Ravi Tigga, Balku Oraon, Ajit Tete, Narayan Oraon, Renu Tirkey, Nirmal Marandi, Bhagwan Das, Sushil Oraon, Amar Oraon. Everyone called that if there is no code, then there is no vote. This issue dominates in the 2024 Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.

Sukhram Munda, a descendant of Dharti Aba Birsa Munda, present in the rally has also demanded Sarna Dharma Code for the people of tribal society.

Addressing the rally, Tigga said that tribals are neither Hindu nor Sanatan. “That's why the conspiracy to eliminate the tribals should stop. Over 12 crore tribes across the Country have their own religion. We have our own culture, our own rituals, our own place of worship and our own customs, which do not follow Hindu law. That's why Sarna Dharma code should be implemented for tribals,” he added. He also warned that if the Central Government does not do this, then it can have serious consequences. He further said that as far as delisting is concerned, delisting should happen but not only the tribals who became Christian from Sarna but also the tribals who became Hindu Jain Buddhist should be delisted.

Tigga said that under the conspiracy, efforts are being made to eliminate the tribals, which will not be tolerated at all. He said that in 2011, about 50 lakh tribes across the country registered their religion code in the census form and at the same time, more than 40 lakh people in the world got the Sarna religion code marked. That's why it cannot be said that tribals are Hindu or Sanatan. He said that we will not allow the national census to take place until there is a separate Sarna religion code in the census form. There will be an across-the-board fight for Sarna Dharma Code and we are ready to cross the border, he added.

Tribal leader Karma Oraon said that now people of tribal society from all over the State have gathered here. “Soon there will be a big rally in places like Bhubaneswar, Raipur. Through this the voice will be conveyed to the Central Government. In the year 2021, the Legislative Assembly of Jharkhand held a special session on November 11 and unanimously passed the proposal to enter a separate code for the Sarna tribal religion in the census. The Sarna Tribal Religion Code Bill was unanimously sent to the Central Government after the assembly. The Jharkhand Government had said that through this the culture and religious freedom of the tribals would be protected. But, the central government has not yet approved it,” he added.
