The International Conference on Forensic Medicine and Legal Sciences (IAMLECON 2023), organized by the prestigious North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) in Shillong from June 1 to June 4, concluded on a high note. Conference was attended by about 300 delegates from 23 States of the country and from 5 countries. The conference brought together renowned professionals and experts in the field, fostering valuable discussions on advancements and challenges in forensic medicine and legal sciences.
We are pleased to announce that the esteemed delegation from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bhopal, comprising Dr. Arneet Arora, Dr. Raghvendra Kumar Vidua, Dr. Moirangthem Sangita (Senior Resident) and Dr. Sibi Vijayakumar (Junior Resident Academic), presented exceptional research papers during the conference, making notable contributions to their respective areas of expertise.
Dr. Arneet Arora, presented on the topic "Postmortem Microbiology: Development and Applicability." Her insightful research shed light on the emerging field of postmortem microbiology and its practical implications in forensic investigations. AIIMS Bhopal is the first and only Institute in the country where Post Mortem Microbiology has been started and is being developed.
Dr. Raghvendra Kumar Vidua's research paper titled "Estimation of Time Since Death Using Biochemical Markers in Synovial Fluid" provided valuable insights into the estimation of time since death, utilizing biochemical markers found in synovial fluid. His innovative approach showcased the potential of these markers in forensic analysis.
Dr. Moirangthem Sangita, Senior Resident FMT, shared her expertise in her presentation titled "Histopathology in Open Medicolegal Autopsy Cases: A Rewarding Pursuit." Her comprehensive study highlighted the importance of histopathological examination in medicolegal autopsies, emphasizing its role in the accurate determination of cause and manner of death.
