A grand celebration of the “Indian Language Festival” was organised by the School of Languages, Central University of Odisha, Koraput, on its campus at Sunabeda on December 11.
On the occasion, a humble tribute was paid to great Tamil poet Subramanya Bharathi. Students were shown a documentary film so that they could become familiar with the poet's entire life. Honorable Vice-Chancellor Prof Chakradhar Tripathi underlined the importance of multilingualism in India and highlighted the role of the young generation.
He said, "The youth will have to come forward in making a developed India. They will have to make themselves multi-dimensional by learning many languages. Our multicultural India is taking steps towards development. We have to work with dedication and service."
Registrar in charge of the university Prof NC Panda, while sharing his detailed experience, stressed the need for students to consider poet Subramanya Bharati as their ideal. He said that language teaching and culture preservation should be our goals. The rise of Sanskrit and all Indian languages is possible only when students develop an interest in language teaching.
