The Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) will stage demonstrations all across Uttar Pradesh on Monday in protest against the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi from Lok Sabha.
CPI-ML state secretary Sudhakra Yadav, who is participating in the central committee meeting in Kolkata, said the action of the Central government on Rahul Gandhi was akin to surgical strike on democracy.
In a statement, the CPI-ML leader said the Surat court gave a 30-day grace period to Rahul Gandhi to appeal in higher court by staying the punishment for 30 days. “Despite this, the Lok Sabha membership of Rahul Gandhi was finished. The Union government’s move was vindictive. This is an action to silence the opposition,” he said.
He said there was an undeclared emergency in the country and it was high time for the opposition to unite and fight with the Bharatiya Janata Party to save democracy.
He said the party workers and leaders would take out protest marches across the state. In Lucknow the party workers and leaders will take out the protest march from Parivartan Chowk to the district magistrate’s office while in other districts the protest will be held at tehsil and district headquarters.
