The Uttar Pradesh Congress, on Sunday, remembered Bharat Ratna former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 32nd death anniversary by garlanding his statue and organising an all-religion prayer at the party headquarters.

UP Congress president and former MP, Brijlal Khabri, along with Congressmen reached Rajiv Gandhi Park on Kalidas Marg and garlanded his statue. Apart from this, the Congress leaders also garlanded his statue installed at Rajiv Chowk in UP Congress headquarters. At the same time, Sarva Dharma Shanti Path was also organised at the party headquarters (media hall). During this, provincial President of Uttar Pradesh Congress, former ministers Naseemuddin Siddiqui and Nakul Dubey were also present.

Khabri said that Rajiv Gandhi, who gave martyrdom for the unity and integrity of the country, got recognised India as a strong democratic country at the global level on the basis of his visionary thinking and determination to build a modern India.

“To establish the concept of social justice, Rajiv Gandhi’s contribution to ensure strict compliance of the Panchayati Raj Act can never be forgotten. It is the result of the industrial development and revolution brought by him in the computer sector that today, the Indian computer-skilled youths are making every Indian proud all over the world at the global level,” Khabri said.

He added that the 18-year-old Indian youth got the right to vote and the social, economic and political respect given to rural women could be fruitful only because of the revolutionary programmes run by Rajiv Gandhi.

He said to give a new dimension to Indian education, arrangements were made by Rajiv Gandhi to provide residential education through more than 700 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas across the country.

Remembering Rajiv Gandhi, Khabri, while giving a message to Congressmen, said that Rajiv ji never cared for his life while taking strong decisions towards building a modern India and making a developed country.

“He ultimately sacrificed his life to make India a country of love, brotherhood and peace in the world, whereas today, by creating an atmosphere of hatred and disunity across the country, sectarian and fascist forces want to remain in power,” Khabri said.
