The Bharatiya Janata Party State president Mahendra Bhatt said that during their protest demonstration, the Congress members seemed more pained by the recent electoral losses than by the suspension of MPs. He said that those who insult the Rajya Sabha chairman on the parliament premises have no moral right to remain in the house. Responding to media queries about the Congress protest held on Friday, Bhatt said that the silence of the opposition on the security breach in the parliament and its political drama in the house is totally unacceptable. What the Lok Sabha speaker and Rajya Sabha chairman did to maintain the dignity of the parliament is fully justified, he said. “Mimicking and mocking the Rajya Sabha chairman and Vice President during a demonstration at parliament and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi filming this was an attempt to dent the dignity of a constitutional post. The opposition MPs reach the parliament by gaining the trust of the public and then dent the trust of the public by hindering the proceedings of the house,” Bhatt said.

He further said that those who publicly humiliate a person occupying a top position in a constitutional institution do not have the moral right to remain in the parliament or occupy any other public post. “The manner in which the Rajya Sabha chairman’s gestures and physical aspects were mimicked with the intention to humiliate him is not less than a crime against an entire community. On top of that, a senior MP like Rahul Gandhi making a video of this deplorable incident and trying to glorify it is very unfortunate,” said the BJP State president, while adding that Congress leaders in the protest held on Friday showed more frustration about the recent electoral losses than about the suspension of MPs.
