Commission to honour separate statehood movement agitators

Thursday, 21 December 2023 | PNS | Ranchi

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Alamgir Alam on Wednesday placed a resolution on the table of the Assembly regarding formation of a commission to honour separate state agitators (Jharkhand agitators). In this resolution of the Home, Jail and Disaster Management Department, the formation of the commission, its objectives and the benefits given to the agitators have been mentioned. The government has made it clear in the resolution that a member of the family of an agitator martyred in police firing or jail or disabled will be given direct appointment in third or fourth grade government jobs. At the same time, dependents of other agitators will be given 5 percent horizontal reservation in third and fourth grade jobs. In the dependent category, the agitator's wife, son, unmarried daughter, son's widowed wife, husband of the agitator woman and grandchildren of the agitator will be included.

Meanwhile, in other development the BJP lawmakers holding placards in their hands demanded the state government to implement the planning policy in the interest of the unemployed and ensure action against the culprits who committed atrocities on women. BJP MLAs, who are sitting on dharna outside the assembly carrying placards related to their demands, will have to provide employment to the youth and clarify the planning policy.

The BJP members also protested against the suspension of three BJP MLAs—Bhanu Pratap Shahi, Viranchi Narayan and JP Patel from house.

BJP MLAs termed the action taken by the Speaker motivated by revenge. Leader of Opposition Amar Bauri said that retaliation has been taken here for the suspension of MPs in Parliament. We strongly oppose this. He said that if the government considers talking about the public, talking about the youth, talking about employment a crime, then we are criminals and will continue to commit this crime in future also. The BJP delegation on Tuesday also met Governor CP Radhakrishnan protesting against the suspension of BJP lawmakers.

During the question hour in the winter session of the Assembly on Wednesday, Congress MLA Irfan Ansari said that BJP MLAs were not protesting in the interest of the public and the youth, they were misleading the public.

He further said, if it was a matter of public interest then why were they disrupting even the Zero Hour, in which the MLA raises questions of public interest. The Leader of Opposition is a Dalit, hence his party's Bhanu Pratap Shahi and Randhir Singh oppose Amar Bauri.

The Leader of Opposition objected to this and said that Irfan Ansari is showing sympathy by taking my name. This is their show off towards tribals and Dalits. Don't worry about us, worry about your team. It is not given that much importance in Congress. BJP gave such an opportunity, this is possible only here. Yesterday's topic was about youth, Jharkhand has failed regarding youth. He said that the suspension of MLAs should be returned.
