Security personnel have launched a massive manhunt in the Nalikumbha forest in Boudh district to arrest around 40 Maoists suspected to be holed up there.
Jawans of Special Operation Group (SOG) of Odisha Police and the District Voluntary Force (DVF) of Boudh are carrying out combing operations in the forest under the Manmunda police limits.
The search operation, which was launched on Thursday, would continue till the Red radicals surrender before police, informed Boudh SP Raj Prasad.
On Friday, a large number of explosives and other Maoist materials were found during the search operation in the forest. The security forces defused three IEDs planted by the Maoists targeting the former.
According to police, the jawans are taking utmost caution during the combing operation as it is apprehended that the ultras might have planted landmines in the jungle. Three bomb squads have also been roped in for the operation.
