Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday said to realise the vision of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, Uttar Pradesh has established 18 Atal Residential Schools with the inspiration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
While interacting with teachers and students in the ‘Atal Residential School Guruvarta Sangam’ programme at Lok Bhavan auditorium, the chief minister said  former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, had a vision of providing world-class facilities and infrastructure to the economically weaker sections of the country.
He underlined that these institutions will not only provide education to underprivileged children but also instill Indian values and Gurukul traditions, raising a generation of youth who will carry India’s cultural heritage worldwide.
The chief minister mentioned that Atal Residential Schools with world-class facilities spread over 12 to 15 acres are operational on a CBSE pattern in 18 divisions of the state so far.
He said that these schools would not only be centres for the skill development of students but would also pave the way for integrated development for the children of labourers, the marginalised and the underprivileged, who contribute to the state’s progress.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Yogi distributed school kits to the students who have been selected for Atal Residential Schools and wished them success in the future.
The chief minister also launched the website of Atal Residential Schoolhttp://www.atalvidyalaya.org.
While addressing the principals of 18 Atal Residential Schools, 130 selected teachers, 137 outsourcing staff and 848 MTAS and junior personnel in the program, he said that the government had started the Bal Seva Yojana (Child Welfare Scheme) for the children who lost their parents during the COVID-19 period. He said that these children would also be given the benefit of admission to these schools.
“The aim is to make students self-sufficient and self-reliant when they come out of these schools after six years. Teachers will have to ensure this and make efforts to do so. Remember, we don’t have to be bound by fate, we have to innovate”, he said.
The chief minister mentioned that our problem is that every individual becomes dependent on others. He remarked that the government constructs grand buildings and provides facilities but the beneficiaries do not take responsibility for maintaining them.
The chief minister said that cleanliness, hygiene and maintaining a clean environment were essential for the holistic development of students. “Discipline is very necessary and indiscipline at any level should not be tolerated”, he added.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also emphasised the significance of sports, various competitions, and awareness regarding the government’s new schemes and current events in the country. He urged that students should be encouraged to visit libraries.
On this occasion, Minister of State for Labour and Employment Manohar Lal Mannu Kori, Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra, Infrastructure and Industrial Development Commissioner Manoj Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary of Labour and Employment Department Anil Kumar, Mohanlalganj MLA Amresh Kumar and Director General of Atal Residential School, Nisha Anand were present.
