Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday approved construction of seven multipurpose cyclone shelters in seven gram panchayats of four blocks in Puri district.
Notably, during the 5T Chairman’s tour, proposals for construction of cyclone shelters in different gram panchayats in the district had been made. Keeping in view the public grievances, the Chief Minister approved multipurpose cyclone shelters in three gram panchayats of Brahmagiri block, two gram panchayats in Kanas block and one each in Kanas and Puri Sadar blocks.
Rs 14 crore would be spent for construction of the seven multipurpose cyclone shelters. The Rural Development Department has been entrusted the construction work of the cyclone shelters.
