Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Ramvir Singh Bidhuri claimed on Tuesday that despite the Supreme Court’s orders, the Delhi Government is not paying the pending compensation of 130 crores to approximately 150 farmers in Jasola and Madanpur villages.
Alleging this, he also said the government even argued in court that they did not have the money in the account of the ADM/Land Execution Collector (LSC).
Looking at the government’s attitude, the court issued an order to seize the immovable property of the ADM office.
The court has taken a firm stance, stating that this decision cannot be appealed, and no stay can be issued on it.
Delhi BJP’s chief spokesperson and MLA Abhay Verma said the 76 acres of land in Jassola village was acquired in 1986-87.
This land was acquired to extend 13-A Mathura Road to Kalindi Kunj.
This land belonged to about 150 farmers, and they were supposed to receive 130 crores as compensation from the Delhi Government.
However, the government has not made this payment. The matter was taken to the Supreme Court, and even the Supreme Court ruled in favour of the farmers, ordering the government to pay the compensation on April 20, 2022. However, this decision has not been implemented so far.
Bidhuri revealed that when the compensation was not paid, the Saket Court issued an order on July 26, 2023, to attach the immovable property of the ADM/Land Execution Collector (LSC).
Bidhuri criticized the Kejriwal government, accusing them of hypocrisy for claiming that they are increasing farmers’ compensation while refusing to pay and going to the extent of saying they don’t have the money in their accounts.
On one hand, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his Cabinet members claim that the Government has no shortage of funds, and on the other hand, farmers’ rights are being denied, and the compensation for their land is not being paid, the BJP leader claimed.
