The Chhattisgarh government will disburse the pending bonus of two years worth Rs 3,716.38 crore to farmers on Good Governance Day on December 25 (Monday), it was announced on Sunday.
Good Governance Day is observed on the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai will be the chief guest at a programme from 1 pm on Monday in Bendri village in Raipur district.
Deputy Chief Ministers Arun and Vijay Sharma will preside over the function while cabinet minister Brijmohan Agarwal, Raipur Lok Sabha MP Sunil Soni, former minister and Raipur (West) MLA Rajesh Munat and several MLAs will also be present. The state government has also initiated the procurement of 21 quintals of paddy per acre at Rs. 3,100 per quintal besides distribution of tokens to procure paddy.
The farmers who have sold their paddy as per the pre-determined quantity have also been given the facility to sell the difference of the newly prescribed quantity of paddy. Last year, the upper limit was 15 quintals paddy per acre.
The Chhattisgarh government has to procure about 130 lakh tonnes of paddy for the kharif marketing year 2023-24.
