Burglars seem to be having a field day in the capital city and striking at will even in the apartments which were earlier thought to be safe due to the deployment of security guards.
In the latest instance, a burglars’ gang went on a looting spree and targeted five flats of an apartment in the Gadakana area late on Monday night.
The miscreants sneaked into the apartment even in the presence of security guards. They broke the doors of the flats and looted valuables worth lakhs of rupees. The CCTV installed in the apartment has captured the visuals of the looters.
On getting information, police reached the spot and initiated an investigation by examining the CCTV footage to nab the looters.
An inter-State gang that is active in the city is suspected to be behind the loot, said police sources.
Notably, miscreants targeted an ATM of the State Bank of India at Hata Sahi under the Lingaraj police station and decamped with over Rs 10 lakh cash a couple of days back.
Earlier also, several flats in apartments in different parts of the city were targeted by miscreants. But police are yet to get any breakthrough in those loots and nab any of the burglars.
