Beware of abusive calls to Hry 112: Strict action to be taken against offenders, says DGP
Chandigarh: Director General of Police Shatrujeet Kapur on Thursday warned the people against using abusive language towards female staff at the Haryana 112 emergency helpline. Such behavior will not be tolerated, and legal action will be swift and serious. DGP said that providing a respectful and safe environment for women is a top priority for Haryana Police. Abusing female police personnel on duty will not be tolerated, and strict legal action will be taken against offenders.
Several BJP leaders from Batala join SAD
Batala: BJP on Thursday witnessed a wipe-out in Batala with almost all of its leadership joining the Shiromani Akali Dal along with their supporters in the presence of SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal during an event organized by former minister Anil Joshi. Among those who joined are Batala municipal corporation’s former president Naresh Mahajan, nine former councillors, two sitting councilors — Suman Handa and Sudha Mahajan, ex-vice-president of the Batala BJP Mandal, former BJP district president, office bearers of the party’s Kisan Morcha, Beopar Mandal, Yuva Morcha, OBC Cell, ex vice president of the Senior Citizen Cell and office bearers of Truckers Association.

Bank of India holds sexual harassment sensitization program
Chandigarh: In a move towards fostering a workplace free from harassment, the Bank of India, on December 11, conducted a sensitization program on the prevention of sexual harassment at its NBG office in Star House, Sector 31 A, Chandigarh. The event marked a collective effort to create awareness and ensure a safe and respectful work environment for all employees. Sandhu assumes charge as PSFDC vice-chairman

Punjab Speaker condoles demise of AAP leader Kakar Kalan
Chandigarh: Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan on Thursday expressed deep grief over the sad demise of Ratan Singh Kakar Kalan — Aam Aadmi Party’s in-charge of Shahkot constituency in Jalandhar, while describing him as “an honest leader”. Notably, Kakar Kalan was admitted to the hospital due to a stomach infection and died during the treatment. He had also contested 2022 state assembly elections from Shahkot constituency on AAP ticket, and secured around 29,000 votes.
Banks to take action to effectively combat cybercrime: Hry CS
Chandigarh: Combating the escalating tide of cybercrime, Haryana Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal on Thursday stressed the urgent requirement of ongoing awareness programs. He emphasized their role in equipping the public with essential knowledge to thwart irregular deposit schemes, similar scams, and other deceptive practices. Chairing the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) State Level Coordination Committee (SLCC) meeting, Kaushal pointed out the various strategies used by cybercriminals and the concerning number of complaints against them. He said that more than 1.50 lakh complaints were reported from January 1 to November 30, 2023, with over 51,000 already resolved and ongoing efforts for the rest. Stressing the need for stronger measures, he urged banks to take swift action to effectively combat cybercrime.
Hry initiates reuse of treated wastewater for sustainable power generation
Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal on Thursday said that the state government has initiated steps to reuse treated wastewater from Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) at the DeenBandhu Bandhu Choturam Thermal Power Plant in Yamunanagar. Presiding over the State Level High Power Committee meeting here in Chandigarh, Kaushal said that the state government has notified the Reuse of Treated Waste Water (TWW) Policy. This policy aims to conserve and optimize water resources in the face of rapidly depleting levels.
