HC to hear 5,994 ETT teachers’ recruitment case on Jan 30

Chandigarh: Hearing the case related to the recruitment of 5994 ETT teachers in Punjab School Education Department, the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Tuesday  fixed January 30, 2024, as the next date for the hearing, maintaining that the decision will be taken on the next hearing that case can be heard. Sharing the information, the government spokesperson said that the issue regarding the recruitment of 5994 teachers was discussed in a hearing before a double bench comprising Justice Deepak Sibal and Justice Amarjot Bhatti.

Punjab VB apprehends 9 officials in 7 bribery cases during Nov

Chandigarh: Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), in November, arrested nine government officials red-handed while accepting bribes across seven distinct entrapment cases. Among those involved, two doctors, two power officials, and two police personnel were apprehended. Additionally, six criminal cases have been registered, in which 14 accused were involved. A spokesperson said that within this period, special courts have decided seven cases filed and contested by the VB, resulting in the conviction and sentencing of eight officials, with the sentences ranging between three and seven years, accompanied by fines ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 60,500.
 
115 youth from across all districts participating in state-level workshop

Chandigarh: To enhance the social, cultural, and moral standing of the state’s youth, Punjab Government’s Department of Youth Services on Tuesday launched the first phase of State-Level Youth Training Workshop (for boys) at Panjab University, Chandigarh. The workshop is scheduled to run until December 15. Spokesperson said that the goal is to provide proper guidance to the youth on vocational courses, Punjab Government schemes and initiatives for their welfare and development. A total of 115 youth from all districts of Punjab are actively participating in this training workshop in which various subject matter experts will share their insights with the youth.

Govt to spend Rs 3700 crore in new road construction next year, says Hry Dy CM

Chandigarh: Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala on Tuesday said that Rs 3700 crore will be spent on construction of new roads in the state next year. Of this, Rs 57 crore will be spent on village Siwani to Singhani and Lohani-Obra-Behal road in Bhiwani district. He was addressing villagers in Kalod village of Bhiwani.

Kurukshetra University and Rekhi Foundation sign MOU to establish centre of excellence for Science of Happiness

Chandigarh: To establish a 'Centre of Excellence for the Science of Happiness' at the University, focusing on fostering happiness and holistic well-being among students and the community, the Kurukshetra University has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Rekhi Foundation to establish centre of excellence for Science of happiness. Vice Chancellor Som Nath Sachdeva said that the collaboration between KU and the Rekhi Foundation seeks to create a pioneering hub that will pioneer research, education, and practices centered around happiness, mental health, mindfulness, and holistic development. 

Punjab Govt to allocate Rs 5L grant each to 29 villages for establishing common crematoriums

Chandigarh:  Punjab Government will release a grant of Rs five lakh each to 29 villages for setting up of common crematoriums. The file regarding the same has been approved by the state Rural Development and Panchayats Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar. The grant will be provided under the state government’s special policy under which villages, consolidating multiple crematoriums into a common one, are entitled to receive a special grant of Rs five lakh from the government.

 Pb Minister directs officials to ensure zero delay in issuing NOCs after ascertaining facts

 Chandigarh:  To increase the efficacy of the Forest and Wildlife Preservation Department and streamline its functioning, Punjab Forest and Wildlife Preservation Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak on Tuesday directed the officers to speed up the ongoing projects and complete them promptly. At the same time, the Minister issued directions to properly utilize the grants received to ensure that they do not lapse. The Minister, in a high-level meeting, was apprised that as per the development plan for Dirba Park, toilets, a boundary wall are proposed to be constructed besides the landscaping, walking track, guard quarter would also be done. As regards the plantation, it would also be undertaken after mid-February as by then the winter season would be over.
