LENKA APPOINTED NATIONAL YC GEN SECRETARY  
Bhubaneswar: Dr Smruti Ranjan Lenka has been appointed as general secretary of the All India Youth Congress national committee by All India Youth Congress national convenor Krishna Alavaru and All India Youth Congress president BV Srinivasan. Lenka has been appointed in-charge of Assam and Meghalaya. From 2017, Lenka was functioning as national secretary. From June 2020, he was appointed as Odisha Youth Congress president, He has thanked the Congress leadership for entrusting the responsibility to him. 

NAT’L WATER AWARDS: GANJAM ADJUDGED BEST DISTRICT
Bhubaneswar: Ganjam has been adjudged as the Best District in the 4th National Water Awards. Besides, Odisha has secured the second position among all States. Madhya Pradesh won the Best State award while Andhra Pradesh and Bihar were jointly placed at the third position. Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar will confer the awards on June 17 at a ceremony to be held at the Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, by the Department of Water Resources, River Development, and Ganga Rejuvenation (DoWR, RD &GR), Ministry of Jal Shakti.

REGIONAL SCIENCE CENTRE HOLDS SCIENCE-BASED ART PERFORMANCE  
Bhubaneswar: On the occasion of Raja festival on Thursday, the Regional Science Centre, Bhubaneswar, in association with Natya Chetana organised a science-based art performance on the theme ‘A fly to the Earth’ alongside a slew of events like theatre making workshop, poster making and a storytelling session ‘Life of Women Scientists of India’. The programme was aimed at offering gratitude to Mother Nature for her contribution to human life. 

BISWAL NOMINATED AS ZRUCC MEMBER  
Bhubaneswar: The Ministry of Railways in a notified memorandum has nominated Sachita Nanda Biswal as a Members for the 10th Zonal Railway Users' Consultative Committee (ZRUCC) of the East Coast Railway for a period of two years. Biswal has expressed his gratitude to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and the Government of India for having faith on him by entrusting him this responsibility. He has also expressed his commitment to dispose all assignments as a ZRUCC Member and sought cooperation of all rail users for successful implementation of railway planning in the ECoR.

CT SCAN AT B'PUR CITY HOSPITAL DEMANDED 
Brahmapur: The Manav Adhikar Surakhya Manch (MASM) has demanded installation of CT Scan Machine in the Brahmapur City Hospital, which receives about 1,000 patients daily. Due to lack of CT Scan Machine, patients spend a lot to get the proper treatment outside the City Hospital. The Manch headed by its convener Abani Kant Gaya along with Shyam Sundar Khadanga, Maguni Nahak, Maheswr Badatiya, Gurudev Behera, K Bighnesh submitted a memorandum to the Health Minister through the CDMO. 

2 INTER-STATE ATM ROBBERS HELD BY RAMBHA POLICE  
Chhatrapur: The Rambha police arrested two inter-State ATM robbers with Rs 92,000 on Wednesday. The robbers Raghunath Reddy and Harhara Reddy had been very active in Odisha and Andhra Pradesh for last couple of years targeting ATMs of different districts of Odisha and AP. Recently, they were involved in three ATM robbery cases in the Rambha area and one in Belaguntha. Police also seized 12 SIM cards from them. Police informed that they were also involved in some ATM robbery cases in Puri district.

GIRL DROWNS IN MAHANADI INJAGATSINGHPUR
Jagatsinghpur: A minor girl, Lucy Mallick, of Jagannathpur village under Kujang block in Jagatsinghpur district drowned in the Mahanadi while taking bath on Wednesday. The 13-year-old girl had gone to the river for taking a bath with her grandmother but was swept away by strong currents and went missing.  Fire Service personnel from Kujang and locals launched a search operation to trace her.  After six hours, the girl's body was recovered from the river. 

POWER STAFFS’ HARD WORK APPRECIATED BY DEPT  
Bhubaneswar: The power sector’s ground staffs, linemen and engineers, who have been tirelessly working day and night to restore the electricity supply network after severe Kalbaishakhi spells, have received appreciation from the Energy Department. In a tweet by the department, it was acknowledged that the frequency and intensity of Kalbaisakhis have caused significant damages to the power infrastructure. 

KHARIAR COLLEGE UG, PG RESULTS OUT  
Nuapada: Results of UG and PG courses of the Khariar Autonomous College were declared on Wednesday in the presence of college Principal Dr Tarun Kumar Pradhan, Examination Controller Dr Padmalochan Burma, Deputy Examination Controller Rajalakshmi Rath and Plus Two Principal Dr Ashwini Padhi. Pass rate in UG courses is 77.6% and PG pass rate 85.06%. Total 411 students had appeared in the UG examinations out of which 319 passed. In PG courses, 90 students had appeared and 77 passed. Girls have done better than boys. The pass rate in UG English language was cent percent.
