Rajesh Khullar takes the charge as FCR
Chandigarh: A grand welcome was given to 1988 Batch IAS officer, Rajesh Khullar, as he assumed charge of Additional Chief Secretary and Financial Commissioner, Revenue and Disaster Management and Consolidation Departments on Monday. Director, Consolidation of Land Holdings and Land Records Department, Amna Tasneem, and other senior officers welcomed Khullar by presenting a bouquet. He also reviewed the functioning of the department and gave necessary directions.
Hot weather conditions prevail in Haryana, Punjab
Chandigarh: Hot weather conditions prevailed in Haryana and Punjab on Monday with the maximum temperature settling above 40 degrees in most parts of the two states. In Haryana, sizzling heat swept across Hisar as the mercury settled at 41.5 degrees Celsius, according to the Meteorological Department here. Sirsa recorded a high of 41.4 degrees Celsius, Ambala 40.6 degrees, Rohtak 40.5 degrees, Narnaul 40 degrees and Bhiwani 39.2 degrees Celsius. In Punjab, Bathinda recorded a maximum temperature of 41.6 degrees Celsius. The mercury settled at 39.9 degrees Celsius in Amritsar and at 40.2 degrees in Ludhiana. Patiala recorded a high of 40.5 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature in Pathankot settled at 40.9 degrees Celsius. Chandigarh recorded a high of 40 degrees Celsius.
Hry Govt signs MoU with HDFC bank
Chandigarh: Haryana Government on Monday inked an MoU with HDFC bank in the presence of School Education Minister Kanwar Pal Gujjar. The School Education Department has tied up with HDFC Bank for a free insurance scheme, under which if the employee transfers his salary account to HDFC Bank, he will get several benefits including accident insurance up to Rs. 50 lakhs free of cost. He further stated that death insurance will also be included in this scheme. The spokesperson said that HDFC Bank has also tied up to set up smart classrooms in 103 schools of the state under the CSR programme, in which HDFC will contribute in the ambitious digital financial literacy programme.
MCF Clerk arrested for taking Rs 4000 bribe
Chandigarh: Haryana Anti Corruption Bureau on Monday arrested a Clerk of the Municipal Corporation Faridabad red-handed while accepting bribe of Rs 4000. The accused took the bribe for ID change in property ownership.
5,867 challans issued for traffic violations from April 7-14
Chandigarh: To ensure smooth traffic in the state, Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij on Monday said that a special campaign is being launched by the traffic police to stop the violation of traffic rules. In this series, from April 7 to April 14, 2023, a total of 5,867 challans have been issued for violating traffic rules in the state, which includes 2,803 lane driving and 3,064 wrong-side driving challans. Vij informed that the number of cases of lane driving and wrong-side driving was 731 in Ambala, 313 in Kaithal, 112 in Sirsa, 248 in Kurukshetra, 184 in Mewat, 421 in Rohtak, 81 in Karnal, 77 in Hisar, 124 in Yamunanagar, 97 in Panipat, 268 in Jhajjar, 323 in Narnaul, 110 in Sonipat, 1320 in Faridabad, 256 in Bhiwani, 151 in Panchkula, 260 in Charkhi Dadri, 247 in Gurugram, 183 in Rewari, 148 in Jind, 22 in Hansi, 80 in Fatehabad and 111 challans have been issued in Palwal.
HPLPC recommends purchasing 20 acres of land each for 5 LLPD Automated Dairy Plant at Ambala
Chandigarh: A High Powered Land Purchase Committee (HPLPC) meeting met under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal recommended to purchase 20 acres of land each for setting up an Automated Dairy Plant at Ambala and a canal-based water supply in Jind city. The meeting of the Committee of Secretaries for the purchase of land for various developmental projects under the e-Bhoomi portal was attended by Additional Chief Secretary and Financial Commissioner, Revenue and Disaster Management and Consolidation Departments Rajesh Khullar, Additional Chief Secretary, Higher Education Anand Mohan Sharan, Commissioner and Secretary of Irrigation and Water Resources, Pankaj Agarwal, Director of Medical Education and Research, Aditya Dahiya and Director, Consolidation of Land Holdings and Land Records, Amna Tasneem.

Punjab Minister distributes grants to NGOs
Ludhiana: Punjab Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr Baljit Kaur on Monday distributed grants to all NGOs working for the betterment of society under PM6 scheme, while also encouraging them to work wholeheartedly so that maximum people can be benefitted. Dr Baljit Kaur said that the previous system of giving grants on the NGOs’ written demand has been stopped, and “from now on, the NGOs have been selected after following the interview process. Now, the Department would keep a check on works carried out by these NGOs with the help of these grants”.
Farmers getting MSP payments within 24 hrs: Minister
Chandigarh: Punjab Government is making payments directly into the farmers’ bank accounts within 24 hours of confirmation of purchase, breaking previous records, and beating the target of release of payments within 48 hours of purchase set by the Government, said the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak. He said that the payments of more than Rs 3,014 crores have been released to nearly 1,05,574 farmers till date. This is much beyond the amount of Rs 2700 crores which was due for purchases made until 48 hours earlier, he said, adding that these figures clearly prove that payments are being released within 24 hours of purchase.
Two-week prog for English teachers
Chandigarh: To further improve the English language and communication skill of the children of the state, Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains on Monday launched another innovative course at Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration. Thanking the US Embassy for the collaboration for this noble cause, the Minister also encouraged the participants to make best use of this opportunity. Two American trainers will be working with 40 English language teachers on an intensive two-week program in ‘Teaching English to Adolescents’ from April 17 – 29.
