In the brutal murder of Bharatiya Janata Party leader in Banda, the police made a sensational revelation that the accused couple had executed the murder over an extra-marital affair and also inserted iron nails into the body to ensure that the victim died.
According to the police, the woman lured the BJP leader to meet her alone. When the victim arrived, her husband strangled the BJP leader with a rope. The couple then attacked the victim with a sharp nail, inflicting multiple wounds on the chest and neck.
“After ensuring that the victim had died, they threw the body near the boundary wall of a government school,” claimed Superintendent of Police, Banda, Ankur Aggarwal, on Wednesday.
The incident took place in Satanyaya village under Baberu police station.
Arunesh (29), a leader of BJP Yuva Morcha, had an illicit relationship with Geeta, wife of his village friend Devesh Namdev, for the last one year.
“When Devesh learned about this, he warned Arunesh to stay away from his wife. However, Arunesh turned a deaf ear. Subsequently, Devesh devised a plan to eliminate him. He pressured his wife to call Arunesh to meet her on Monday evening. When Arunesh arrived at their place, Devesh approached from behind and began strangling him. During the struggle, the rope broke, then Devesh stabbed Arunesh in the chest and neck with a sharp nail. Once Arunesh succumbed to his injuries, they disposed of the body near a government school and made their escape,” the SP said.
“When Arunesh did not return home, the family members launched a search and informed the local police. Through electronic surveillance, the police determined the victim’s last known location near Geeta’s house. Suspecting foul play, they apprehended Geeta’s husband for questioning. After intense interrogation, Devesh eventually broke down and confessed to the murder. The police also recovered the iron nail and rope used in the crime,” he added.
