A group of BJP central leaders have arrived in Odisha apparently to prepare the party’s State organisation for the 2024 elections.
Party national general secretary (organisation) BL Santosh, regional in-charge Sunil Bansal and state co-in-charge Vijay Pal Singh Tomar on Friday held a coordination meeting with State’s office-bearers and discussed a strategy to win the Assembly and Lok Sabha polls.
Vijay Pal Singh Tomar told reporters, “The BJP is always ready for elections. The decisions taken at a meeting of national functionaries need to reach the State-level and district-level meetings and then they should be implemented.”
“A blueprint for over 50-per cent votes from each booth in the State will be prepared,” he said.
Asked if his party was capable enough to defeat the BJD, he said, “There is nothing impossible in it. Uttar Pradesh can be taken as an example. The Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party ruled the State for 15 years. But the BJP vanquished them and came to power there.”
To another query on the Congress’ allegation that the BJD and BJP are one and same and both the parties have a tacit understanding, Tomar said, “The BJD has stood with us at times of issues of national interest. But when it comes to issues with farmers and common people in the State and corruption in the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, the BJP is always against the BJD.”
