The Vigilance police on Thursday carried out simultaneous raids on the properties of Prashanta Kumar Gantayat, Chief Civil Supplies Officer (CCSO), Bhubaneswar, on the allegations of amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
In the ongoing raids at seven locations, movable and immovable assets worth crores of rupees in the names of Gantayat and his family members were unearthed.
The assets included one triple-storied building under construction with area of 4,800 sqft over Plots 1484 and 1485 at Pandara, Bhubaneswar, worth Rs 83 lakh, one double-storied building (VIM-192) at Chandrasekharpur in Bhubaneswar, an apartment at Neelachal City, Canal Road in Bhubaneswar, another apartment at village Bhabanipur, Brahmapur-II of Neelachal Heights, five plots, of which three plots are in prime areas of Bhubaneswar, gold weighing 536 grams, bank and insurance deposits approximately Rs 1.4 8crore, cash of Rs 1.21 lakh, one four-wheeler (Honda Amaze), two two-wheelers, household articles worth over Rs 19.47 lakh and travel expenditure to Europe and Switzerland amounting to Rs 3 lakh.
Gantayat is being examined to ascertain the sources of the assets. Further searches are continuing. Unearthing of more assets is likely and overall valuation is likely to increase.
