The ITI, Brahmapur organised a ‘Waste 2 Wealth’ symposium to implement green skill activities in campus for sustainability under “Nua Odisha” here on Sunday. Vice-Chancellor, Berhampur University Prof Geetanjali Dash and Vice-Chancellor, Khallikote University Prof Prafulla Kumar Mohanty inaugurated the event.
Students from polytechnic, engineering schools, ITIs, high schools and other Government and private institutes visited the symposium in large numbers and appreciated the innovative skill of the students. It was a live experience for the students to get the knowledge for up-cycling the waste. The products developed by the students were sold to the general public in a store inside the campus.
VC Prof Mohanty and Dash in their address emphasized on sustainable economic growth by innovative, green practices. ITI Principal Dr Rajat Kumar Panigrahi said 8.4 million jobs are to be created for young people aged 15-29 years by 2030 as a result of green transition. So, increasing hands-on skill to create a circular economy is the need of the hour, he added.
